SUMMARY:A New Song: Music Remembered\, Reimagined\, Renewed
DESCRIPTION:With guest artist\, Bill Tiberio on saxophone\, conducting
scholars Izzy Granger and Joshua Bassette\, and pianist\, Dane Noble-
Rosema\, First Inversion explores music in conversation with music of
the past.\n\nEvery piece on this concert begins with something inherit
 ed: an ancient chant\, a sacred text\, a familiar work\, or a musical
tradition passed down through generations. Each composer on the progra
m hears that inheritance in a new way—reimagining selections from Hand
el’s Messiah\, weaving improvisation with Renaissance polyphony\, echo
ing the music of Hildegard\, or creating new expressions with an ancie
nt text.\n\nAlthough the program draws deeply from sacred tradition\,
its message reaches beyond doctrine. This is music about inheritance a
nd imagination: about how old words and melodies can continue to commu
nicate comfort\, community\, hope\, and joy. \n\nFirst Inversion is pr
oud to be Artists in Residence with Arts Link at Downtown Presbyterian
Church\, partnering in ministry to build Beloved Community. As always
\, the concerts are offered as a gift to the community\, with suggeste
d donations of $25\, or $10 for students\, to support First Inversion’
 s work.
