 to bring baritone and spirituals specialist\, Robert Sims to Rochester
  thanks to a grant from the Ralph C. Wilson\, Jr. Arts and Cultural In
 itiative\, received through the Rochester Area Community Foundation. A
 long with our dear friend and local superstar soprano\, Kearstin Piper
  Brown\, and the choir of First Inversion\, we will present our annual
  exploration of the American Negro Spiritual\, this time with a specia
 l focus on the works (both literary and musical) of R. Nathaniel Dett 
 (1882-1943)\, who was the first person of African descent to earn a de
 gree at the Eastman School of Music in 1932 (MM composition). This yea
 r's Holding On through Song is not to be missed! As always\, the conce
 rts are offered as a gift to our community with suggested ticket price
 s to support our work ($25/adult\, $10/student).
